Hi, I am hoping someone can help me out here, as I am pretty nervous about what's going on with my skin. I had a pretty bad breakout two weeks ago, and my derm gave me Epiquin (which contains hydroquinone and retinol) for the subsequent red marks. I put the Epiquin on the spots only, and the following morning there were red splotches where the cream had been applied.
That was Saturday morning, so I had to wait until Monday to talk to my derm. She said the retinol must have simply irritated my skin, and said to put hydrocortisone on the affected areas. She said it should be gone "within a couple days." Well, today is day two of using it, and the red splotches are still there.
I do not think the Epiquin BURNT the skin, because it is not peeling. What do you think? Will continued (as in for a couple more days) use of the hydrocortisone do the trick, or did I do some serious damage?
