Maintenance on a bike in storage the past two and a half years.?

Several years ago, I really injured my knee playing softball. I had to grab the top of the car door and roof, just to be able to support myself getting out of my car. It hurt to walk. So, I decided to get a bicycle as it is a non-impact aerobic exercise. I bought a pretty nice one, paid about $700-800 for it. Anyway, I rode it pretty regularly for a while, but when my knee started getting better, I stopped riding it so much, then all together. Right now, the bike has been in storage for the last couple of years, maybe closer to three. Anyway, what do I need to do to get it back into riding condition? Is it as simple as checking the air in the tires and maybe getting a can of WD-40 and spraying the chain? Or do I need to take it in to a cycling shop and have them change out the chain?
