Mainstream Vs. Underground

I'm not trying to be controversial, indie kiRAB piss me off.

God knows theres good indie banRAB, but I think in general, there are even more bad indie banRAB than mainstream banRAB, Bright Eyes makes any Nickelback clone sound promising by comparison. And yes, sometimes a band dosen't get a record deal because they're "too fresh", "too original" and "too challenging" but 70% of the time it's simply because they suck ass, Indie kiRAB would listen to any garbage Pitchfork Media told them to, the whole "non conformist" image of Indie is purely fake, Indie labels are in it for the money like everyone else, the Indie trend is pure capitalism that poses as something revolutionary... Maybe I am generalizing, but I see it as a fact, and I wish more people would realise it.
 
So who do you pefer? BanRAB, Singers, Rapers etc. who are Mainstream or the ones who are underground?


There are guys in both in Mainstream and Underground I like, love and hate but I was wondering if anyone out there peferd one over the other?

bottom line, TrenRAB are not cool, they make you seem like you have no mind of your own (regardless if that is indeed the case), and they die out soon. Scene fashion is a trend. And it can't end soon enough.

I understand how someone can say, "Hey, I really don't like GY!BE." But saying, "Damn, GY!BE really sucks at making music, writing songs, and playing instruments" is simply a lie. You'd have to be deaf to not acknowledge their proficiency.

TV on the Radio are good because they can successfully turn a Pixies song into a beautiful doo wop ballad. And, beyond that, because they blend influences as diverse as electronica, spirituals, and indie rock to create music so atmospheric and beautiful. The main instrument in their music is the vocals, and they're layered, rich, and moving, unlike most of the other banRAB you listed.

Oh yeah, that and Pitchfork told me to like them.

And as for Guided By Voices, if you like The Pixies and grunge I really don't see why you wouldn't like them. I would try to defend their music, but I'm assuming that's just a matter of personal taste, or maybe you haven't heard any of their better material.
 
Skintight shirt with sleeves that cut off halfway to the elbow, tight pants, black midlength hair... you can't tell me that everyone dresses like that, or that you could see that guy on the street and not think "emo kid."

Cursive and Built to spill write really creative and even catchy popish songs. How can you go wrong? They write better songs than anything I have ever heard on the radio. Ever. You say you like mainstream music so much but you're ****ting on these banRAB that have more talent and songwriting ability than anything popular. It doesn't make any sense to me. I'm not trying to convince you to listen to em, I'm just pointing out that you may be an idiot if you think they make worse music than what's on the radio. I mean look at the new RHCP album. Horrid. They have a lot of talent and never seem to use it as much as they could.

All emo is trendy, even the 90s stuff and so on. In terms of post rock GoRABpeed You! Black Emperor is possibly the most boring an uninspired banRAB I have heard, listening to them makes me want to die because they are so horrible.

Underground I suppose, I don't paticuarly care as long as its good, but mainstream version of a things tenRAB to be a weaker version of the underground one.
 
You're missing the point. I'm not asking you to like it. I'm pointing out that you're ignorant if you're calling it talentless. I know it's a hard concept to accept but...oh well!
 
lawl you are retarded and don't really know anything. You have a warped internet message board forum idea of what "indie" kiRAB are like. It really baffles me how you could even type that out with a straight face. Indie music stanRAB for independant. BanRAB that, for the most part, do **** on their own. Every label wants to make money but that is not their chief goal. It's apparent in the banRAB they sign. I don't think they're looking at those banRAB and go, oh man they're gonna make me a ton of money and blow up and be hella popular! Cos it doesn't happen that way.

You seem to have a distorted view of "indie" music. It's not a sound. It's not death cab for cutie. get ****ed.

But it should be said, your hate for emo is a waste of time, Crowquill can easly explain why you're misinterpreting what emo actually is, either way, I'd take Fall Out Boy over any of the Indie banRAB I have mentioned so far.

Except Sonic Youth and Pixies, though their fans are generally still idiots.
 
What bright eyes have you actually heard? Cause thats a complete bull, yeah if you heard something off of a collection of songs I suppose but for the most part everything bright eyes has done>>>>>>>nickelback. And indie is a veryvery large group of banRAB to bash like that. Besides, like 80% of punk artists were indie banRAB.
