Hey

I am a photographer looking to buying my first Macbook. I hear the the new aluminum mac's only offer a glossy display screen. I also hear that the glossy screen is not good for people who edit photos because what you see will not be what you get...

In other words, if I edit a photo and it looks great in color (because of the glossy screen) the color will not be the same on other macs/pc's.

What do you think?

Go with matte screen, glossy gives you a little bit effect that won't show up in the print out. I have Powerbook G4 and I am really satisfied with it.

well.. i have a glossy macbook white and a matte macbook pro.
glossy gives u more saturated colors and a lil bit brighter than the matte version. it reflects lights. i wouldnt suggest this if ull use ur laptop outside. :)

i prefer matte.
im an amateur photographer.

A problem? No.

I have a MB with a glossy screen, and I have a G4 with a 20 inch matte Apple Cinema display in my studio.

The gloss took a little getting used to. And it isn't ideal outdoors.

But it's very functional and sharp. There's never been a problem with color balance.

If people are saying that they're not getting correct color, it probably isn't because of the glossy screen. It's because they've hosed their calibration or are using the wrong color space.
