Mac mini question help please?

Hi, ive been intrested in getting a MAC for a while now, but christmas is coming up and i need help deciding, A new TV or a MAC mini ? im scared about getting a mac because i have always been a windows user and i worry it will be a underpowered machine :( opinions will be appreciated.
