I gring my oun baby food, and I though babies can't have milk until 1 year old, but I have seen jared mac and cheese for 6 month olds. Do they add something else instead of milk, or is it just in a small enough dose it doesn't effect them. Can I feed my 6m old baby home made mac and cheese?

The issue with whole milk for older babies is the quantity. Babies over 8 months old can have yogurt and cheeses. They just can't a lot of whole milk because it has shown to cause intestinal bleeding ( and also the risk of allergies). This is generally why it's recommended to wait until one year of age to give whole milk instead of formula/breast milk.

Hope this helps

You're right, babies are not supposed to have milk until 1 year. However, they can have most other dairy products at 6-9 months. The dairy protein in cheese, yogurt, etc., is processed differently and is easier for baby's stomach to breakdown. It is less likely to bring on an allergic reaction as well. So mac&cheese baby food (and other cheese) is OK.
