Hi to everyone,

has anyone used Lyrica for treating chronic DISCOGENIC low back pain?

Thanks in advance for advices and experiences.

My doctor tried to switch me from Neurontin to Lyrica for this problem, & my prescription insurance company denied it saying that Lyrica isn't FDA approved for this purpose and there are cheaper alternatives available. Lyrica apparently costs around $200 per month.

I tried Lyrica for the nerve pain but I had the side effect of swelling in the fingers. Neurontin worked better for me but made me feel a bit loopy so I wasn't able to continue taking it while working. However, after my upcoming surgery I plan to consider the neurontin if I have nerve pain post surgically. If you get Lyrica see if your doctor can provide you with a "co pay discount card" as Lyrica is expensive. Neurontin, generically know as gabapentin, can be less expensive as it's available as generic. But you always want to use the one that is best for you even if it costs more.

Please be precise, not only because of me, but because of other visitors that my see this thread in future.

What is your diagnosis? Why you took lyrica?
