hello, i am a new meraber to this forum, however i am not a new meraber to health issues/worries. for the past few months, i have been experiencing pains that somewhat seem to "come and go", during the day. the pains are generally in the armpit areas and are on both arms, where the pain sometimes also radiates. the pain is more of an achey feel and this has made me begin to worry. i have been to the doctors in the past consulting him about a swollen lymph node in which i found beneath my chin, he said it was nothing to worry about and that i had no other symptoms. on experiencing the pain under my armpits, i have recently examined them to find under my right armpit what seem to be other swollen lymph nodes, or what they feel like. this immediately startled me and has scared me tremendously. i do not want people replying saying "go back to the doctors", i want honest peoples' opinion on what they think this could be. i am petrified that it is cancer (lymphoma). i am 15 years old.

henrybath,

If you are still experiencing swollen lymph nodes and your condition has not changed, than YES you do need to return for a recheck.
Swollen lymph nodes can be minor in nature (your body fighting an infection) or they can be a sign of something more serious.
Have you checked other parts of your body for any swollen lymph nodes?
The only way to determine if the swollen lymph node is a serious concern is to have some blood work drawn. This should let the doctor know (and you) if your body is fighting an infection or if there is something else that your doctor would need to address.
Do you like this doctor that you see or do you feel that he/she does not take your concerns seriously?
Sometimes it takes more than one visit to a doctor to get the correct diagnosis.

hello and thanks for the reply. i have just read that you can infact feel regular lymph nodes , even when they are not swollen. i am wondering whether the one under my armpit isnt infact swollen, or whether its a lymph node at all, as you have to feel around quite a bit in order to find it.

If your Lymph Nodes are small (2cm or smaller) and not growing i wouldn't worry too much, Your Doctor is probably right. Your Lymph Nodes can grow from infection and then stay enlarged.
