Hi there,

Having had encouragement from discovering this board and other sites I thought I'de post my experiences in the hope some of you find some use from them.

I've got diagnosed GERD but perhaps like many here I hate the idea of constantly taking meRAB my whole life for it.

A couple of months ago I went through a longer period of time without taking my Lansoprazole, which is one of the PPI type drugs.

Recently my throat began playing up and Lymph nodes felt a bit tender in neck, the Doc couldn't see any signs of infection and everything else was clear, ears, nose and there was nothing sinister about the way he thought the lymph nodes felt. I started taking my Lansoprazole again and 3-4 days in now the symptoms have edged off. That is to say I don't need to take painkillers and the burning feeling has subsided a little.
I had not experienced these types of symptoms before and made no association to my GERD or LPR (which I didn't even know about until tonight).

As people have said here, many general practitioners don't know much about untreated GERD LPR and possible symptoms. Mine even knowing I had GERD never connected this with that although admittedly when I saw him today I had the week before posted my prescription for Lansoprazole so he may have assumed from that that I was taking it already and ruled GERD out.

I'm hoping it all clears up now slowly but I am guessing it could take some time to all heal.

I think it worth mentioning that the problem with my throat followed a cold and there are certainly alot of seasonal flus and things about here in the U.K at the moment.

It feels like sinuses leaking sticky flem stuff into my mouth but upon reading I am led to believe this may just be the throat producing saliva as a result of the LPR and the damage that has been done.

The lesson for me is that if I do stop taking lansoprazole to be very weary of any reflux symptoms, particularly morning throat acid which should be treated as a clear sign that I need to act to try to supress my reflux more.

I'm also guilty of recent weight gain, not bad but towarRAB my heavier side and what else happens with a bit of weight gain? your belt gets a bit tighter, so I'm going to have to try to make a bigger effort on these too.

I'll hopefully post back here as symptoms improve, I sure hope its just been my GERD being naughty because I'm out of ideas if my anti reflux regime yielRAB no results!
