I am 29 years old and I have a lump on my (from what I've read online) mastoid bone. It has been there for about a year and a half without changing in size or shape. It really hasn't caused me any problems. It is on the left side and I do not have one on my right side. It's very hard and fixed. Within the last 2 weeks it has started causing dull pain on a regular basis-originating from the lump and up into my head on that one side. There are moments that it shoots are very intense pain up also. I've had some other random symptoms within the last 6 months such as blurred vision, eyes crossing when starring off, ringing ears, my hands and fingers have went numb on occasion, and my right hand is shaky here and there. I didn't put all that together until the pain started and at times the pain is intense enough to make me want to get sick--mainly didn't put it together because the symptoms are so random. However, they have been occurring enough to make me make comments to my husband about going to get my eyes checked again or the fact that I must have a pinched nerve.
Biggest concern is last month I had a 2in x1 1/2 in x 1 inch benign tumor removed from my left breast. It made me think of the lump behind my ear, but I had been putting off getting it looked at because it hasn't changed in size (from what I can feel) for well over a year. It feels almost identical to what I felt in my breast, but a tad smaller. I felt only a pea size in my breast, but it turned out to be much larger. I do have an appointment on Thursday with another doctor that my surgeon recommended.
I think more than anything I'd like to know what other non-tumor options it can be because of how long I've had it without change and the fact that it is hard and fixed. Just to put my mind at ease until then.
I've read lots on the internet and trying to weed out all the "you must have cancer" comments or the posts about "a painful to touch lymph node that showed up a few days ago". I know a doc with an examination and other testing is the only one that will be able to tell me exactly what it is, but maybe some ideas of what it could be in the meantime would be great if anyone has any ideas.
