lump on upper thigh

hi! i'm not sure where this fits so i'm posting here. about four days ago i noticed a lump on my upper thigh, more towards my buttox and about two inches from my vulva. i am a 25 year old woman, fyi! it's kind of in line with the back muscle that you feel when spreading your legs? i'm sorry that i don't know the proper terms. but anyway! i am over weight so i do often get irritation in my thighs during the summer season from sweat and skin to skin contact, however this does not hurt. it has a small pimple to the side and feels as if it's under the skin. the lump is larger than a pee but smaller than a full finger tip and doesn't seem to be mobile, however it is hardly felt when i am standing. it's more tubular in shape and is not tender at all, nor is it hot or red. it has yet to grow, but doesn't seem to be shrinking either. does anyone know what it could be? i don't think it's in the right place to be a swollen lymph node (it's too far back), and it's not painful enough to be a boil.... also when just grazing the skin it feels kind of like a raised stretch mark, the skin is very soft on top and the lump does not seem to be attached to it (if that makes sense at all?)

any help you could give me would be great! i was recently diagnosed with GAD and have been in and out of the doctors for the past few months and would like to think rationally before adding to the laundry list of medical complaints i am constantly talking to my doctor about.

I'm certainly not a medical person, but it sounds to me like it could be a cyst. It could also be an infected hair folicle, but I'd think that would cause soreness. My advice would be to try sitting in a bathtub of warm water twice a day for a few days and see if it begins to shrink. If not, then you may want to mention it to your doctor. Good luck!

I recommend seeing a professional. It's important to have any lumps checked out immediately, as if left alone they could develop into something more serious. Good luck!
