Lump on back

Hi,
My Husband has this jelly like lump come up on his lower back, just above his hip bone. Its quite large, and is squidgy and jelly like to touch. It wobbles around when you press it, and is quite painful. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?? im packing him off to the Docs this week. But wondered if its like a bulging or torn muscle.

sounds like more of an inflammed cyst or an abcess of some sort.. I don't think a bulging muscle would be able to move around like that. Good idea to get a doctor to look at it if it's painful.
