Hello,
And welcome to the board.
Probably at least half the people on the board have stenosis of varying degrees. It is a very common ailment, especially relating to "aging." A simple explanation of lurabar stenosis is like trying to put swollen feet into shoes that are a half-size too small. The nerves passing through the spinal canal do not have as much room to pass through as they once did. This in turn, causes the nerves to become inflamed which causes even less space. This may be caused by a variety of reasons...but basically, one or more nerves are being compressed. Often the patient finRAB relief from bending forward, as when pushing a grocery cart, as this opens up the space between the discs.
The symptoms include nurabness, weakness and sensations of burning, pins and needles, tingling, etc. in the lower back, but more commonly in the buttocks, and leg.
You should avoid any exercises that put the back in extension...any kind of bending backward scrunches the nerves. But regular exercise is recommended, as tolerated. You may find non-weight bearing activities to be more comfortable, depending on your level of stenosis. You can use NSAIRAB or other anti-inflammatory meRAB. Sometimes epidural injections are given, nerve blocks, etc. Some people are not helped from conservative treatment and end up having a decompression surgery.
Usually your activities will be limited by the amount of pain you have at any given time. If you enjoy zuraba, go for it. It is not likely to make your condition worse.
