this would indicate an MRI "with out" contrast? you can have an MRI with a contrasting agent used, which usually IS the better way to go actually since it does help to bring out certain findings that would otherwise not always even be seen or not as well? and you can have an MRI without(w/o) a contrast agent. if this is the actual order for it from your doc, it IS one without the contrast being used. i would actually ask him why he chose non contrated MRI vs with contrast that just is a good way to go for most. unless you have some type of kidney problems or an actual allergy to the dye, it would be more the standard and better way to even show the best quality MRI pics. hope that helps.
