...sources of error? I'm to distinguish between primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols, and I got ideas from Lucas Test. So this is my procedure:
1. Add 1.5 cm^3 of concentrated hydrochloric acid and 1.5 cm^3 of zinc chloride solution to three separate test-tubes.
2. Then, add 6 cm^3 of three different isomeric alcohols to each test-tube.
3. Observe each liquid immediately after mixing.
4. Observe each liquid 5 - 6 minutes after.
5. Warm each test-tube in a water bath for 10 minutes or more and make observations.
Now, what are the variables?:

Also, what are the sources of error??
