LPN vs RN schooling/work.?

curious.

I know there is a big difference. RN know more and go to school longer along with get paid more. So I was considering starting out with just my LPN then getting a job at a local doctors office/hospital etc with an employer that will help pay for you to go back to school later on in the career for my RN...

Has anybody ever done that? Is there that much a difference in school for the two? Should I just try to stick it out another year or two for the RN...

Also I heard that LPN's are being taking away from the career field. Like their not hiring them anymore and trying to do away with them? But if that was true why can people still go to college for that career field?
