Well im a 16year old female and i have been experiencing lower back pain for almost a year now!! It is ok when i am running and playing football, it is afterwarRAB when it hurts. ITs like a dull ache at the bottom of my back and its constantly there apart from when i am exercising. It is sometimes stiff in the morning and at night. I find that straight leg raises hurt and it hurts when i bend forward. However my blood tests are clear so do you have any idea as to what it could be??

Thanks xx

It may be normal aches and pains of athletic activity, adolescence, and growth. It could also be a spine problem, such as scoliosis, which generally shows up around puberty. Scoliosis can easily go unnoticed until symptoms like pain set in. A trip to your doctor seems to be in order. Tell him/her about your back pain and he can do a simple check for scoliosis. There are other back problems it could be, too, and if he thinks it's appropriate, he can refer you to a specialist. But your family doctor would be the place to start. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Take care,
Emily
