Hi

Hope you can help, i have suffered from severe lower back pain for around 2 years now, it started shortely after the birth of my twins. When I walk for even a short distance i get excruciating pain in my lower back and on one side of my buttock. It is so bad i have to stop and take a rest before i can carry on walking.

If anyone has any advice it would be appreicated.

Thanks
Lisa

Pebbie, I am so sorry that you are having so much pain. Have you seen a doctor about this? If not, my advice would be to see your primary doctor and they can order the proper testing to determine the cause of your pain. They might need to order an MRI/CT scan.

In the meantime, you might try icing, heat, spa, warm baths, bengay, and an anti-inflammatory such as advil, motrin, aleve, etc.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

I totally agree with Diet -you have to see a DR.
Based on my experience you have a back problem and it can't be just ignored. Especially with twins, they need their mommy's attention 24/7 and you have to be healthy for them:)

Take good care of yourself and use the tips from Diet's post. Icing or moist heat, massaging cream - all good see what helps you the most.

Hugs and blessings:angel:

Hey PEEBIE12

I have twins they are 9 and come to think about it all things wrong with me started after their birth. Did the dr tell you anything of why this would have happen?

It sounRAB like you have Sciatica. I suggest you go see your doc, he will prob get you to do a CT scan and put you on an anti-inflammatory for a couple weeks... the scan will help to see if you have any pinched nerves in your lower back. I have a pinched nerve in my lower back at L5-S1 level and that causes pain starting from my right buttock and it shoots down my right leg. And if I walk for more than 5 mins the pain intensifies. It's the sciatic nerve that's inflammed. I take Voltaren, do stretches and I go to my physiotherapist to do some deep tissue massage.

Best is to see your doc, but in the meantime you can ice it for 15mins every hr for the first 2 days. After that try use deep heat. And seeing a Physiotherapist also helps..they teach you how to do stretches to loosen your muscles around the nerve and also proper ways to do things to prevent it getting worse.
