I just saw it and loved it.
If I had a teacher like that, I'd totally fall for her too

Can anybody spoil the movie for me, cause I haven't seen it yet, but I want to. But I can't find it anywhere, so someone please spoil away.

Yeah, I have to agree that I don't think 17 is bad, and I'm aware from things people who've seen the movie who starts what, but I honestly wish the one protagonist were older.

But it's certainly less relevent than if she were 14. I think it's because I know someone who went through something similar and it's screwed up her entire life. Frankly, even though the teacher didn't initiate things, she should have stopped them (my friend was a couple of years younger when it happened). So I guess I take it personally.

But that's not going to stop me from seing the film - and I'll probably really like it because like you, I love debate and I love films that make me think! :D

Interesting plot for the movie, Im going to check out the link with the clips and see if it catches my interest. :)

So...in another community this film sparked a huge debate.

I'm from the land of the tolerant, and I love seeing real romance portrayed in film, regardless of whether it's gay/lesbian/het/whatever...so long as the relationship is appropriate.

Now, this isn't a criticism of the film which I haven't seen yet (but am looking forward to), but I am concerned with a specific message being sent (and again, it wouldn't matter what the gender of the couple was if they had this dynamic):

What do you all think of a relationship where a person in authority gets involved with someone they are supposed to be responsible for?

Now, I'm one who tends to be drawn to films if they're controversial, so I'm not saying I think the film is bad or has a bad message. It just reminds me of the late 60s, in a way - we'd vote for any black candidate simply because they were black and it would be progressive. So, does that mean that even though the relationship is unhealthy by definition (someone in authority taking advantage of his/her relationship with someone s/he is responsible for, regardless of who started it - if this had been a male teacher with a young girl it certainly would appear less acceptable) that it's okay because we need to support all gay/lesbian/transgendered relationships, regardless, in order to further civil rights?

It's an interesting question...
