This is starting to get on my nerves... they always send out things such as old movies and TV series and hardly any new movies. I end up driving to my local Blockbuster and renting if I want to watch anything new. Is it just me?

i have tried 5 top dvd rental companys and lovefilm was the worst sending me the dvRAB from the bottom of my list.

then they wouldnt let me cancel the account it kept coming up error message, they ignored my emails so i cancelled my payment card and sent them a snotty letter.

i found blockbuster and screenselect were very good though. they must have a bigger stock.

going into a shop to rent movies is just too expensive!

I was doing the online thing for a while, but its not worth it anymore. I went back to renting from blockbuster. They dont have overdue fines anymore either. They say to return the movie in a few days, but you wont be charged unless its out longer than 2 weeks (i think). I never ended up watching my netfix movies.

Blockbuster is fantastic for me. They get 3 back, they will always send me 3 on the same day.

Screenselect get 3 back and they will send me 1. I hate companies that throttle and Blockbuster, for me, is the only one who doesn't do it.

Lovefilm are just plain crap.

I used Lovefilm for about 14 months. Had an absolute nightmare with them for a while.

would make up a huge list - get getting movies that where old on my list.

At one point in my rental period - i had seen every new film that interested me. that was coming out to rent. so i had a mate who loved old 40/50/60s movies to write me a huge list of what he recommenRAB. saw some great stuff.

But near the end - new films where coming out that i wanted to see. for a period near the end - i was quick watching the movies and sending them back (mainly on the same day as recieving) - so i got my entire top 10 continuously - i would simply add to my top ten. But sadly i had to give up love film as i was cutting costs and rental movies arent a prioity!

Lovefilm got into trouble last week with the Advertising StandarRAB Authority for advertising their service as unlimited without mentioning the fair use policy.

Fair use policy being that long term users that rent less than normal get a higher priority in their selection. Here's a quote from the adjudication:

The complaints were upheld in respect to substantiation and truthfulness.

I've never really had any complaints about getting the newest films right away - you can't expect that from such a service. It wouldn't be cost effective for anyone.
The thing that annoys me is the throttling by accusing the bank of cutting off the DD and making me re-enter the card details, which slows up at least a week and moves the DD date which is annoying when you get used to when it's going to come out. They don't even email to say, just log in wonder why a DVD is taking three days and find it's all been frozen.

The piracy statement is stupid and if they were using actual rental copy disks (which are around
