Lounging a horse????????????

Kay so you might have read my question about my friends clydesdale. and she refueses to sell him , even though she cannot handle him, i can't eaither. so i was doing some ground work. and he does not lunge, All of my other horses were easy to lounge, and i never had to train them myself. but this horse dosent lunge, i started out in a small circle, and he would walk around me, and then as the circle got bigger he would just stop , so i snapped the whip and he just came running at me. how do i train this beast to lounge? Any anwsers and tips are greatly appreaciated
