Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM Query?

I really like the Louis Vuitton Neverfull in the largest size (which I think is the GM?) It's about £490, which I am prepared to pay. However, the only thing I am not raving about is the colour of the straps, the sort of whitey beigey colour, as I think it looks quite tacky. BUT...whenever I see people with Neverfulls in the street, the straps look darker, even camelly coloured. Do the straps get darker with wear, or am I just noticing old style Neverfulls?
I would really appreciate your help! :)
