Lost my car title/ financed with lien?

I'm want to trade in my car tomorrow and I have looked everywhere and can't find the title. I still owe on my car so there is a lien on it. Would the bank who financed it have a title on record? If it matters, the bank is a local credit union. Can the dealer just call up the bank to handle things? Or do they have to have my title in hand before I can get a new car?

Will I still be able to trade in my car or will I have to wait to get a new title first?
