Lost memory after a motorbike accident

It happened three years ago and i don't remember it well because i can't.

Here is the thing: i drove my friend's motorbike and we had a small crash down onto the road. I wore helmet so it didnt hurt me badly, my head was injured but not serious at all. Then my friend had to drive me home; after that, my mother took me to the doctor and they sent me home because it was nothing serious with me. When i got home alone, i was panic and i started to call my friends (different from the one who with me at the accident) to tell them about the accident and something else.

The weird thing is that night, i had a long dream, in the dream it was like rehappening the whole accident. But in the next morning, i woke up and remembered nothing about the accident and even the previous day. I found myself hurt but i couldn't firgue out how i got those wounds. Then i tried to think about it very hard, then the images of the accident came up in my mind but it was actually from the dream, not from my memory. I could remember the one who had been with me at the accident but i couldn't make sure. Then i went to school and ask that guy, i was really him who was with me, then i asked him to tell me everything about the accident and the thing after that. He said that we had had that accident, then he drove me home and thats all. And i cant confirm 100% his words are true but in my dream, it looks like that. Another strange thing is that when i phone my friends on the night i had the accident, i was like a crazy person, i just called her once then called her again to ask about the same thing.

Even until now, i still can't remember everything about the accident. I cant remember the part that my mother taking me to see the doctor. I want to know what is wrong with me?

Well thank you for your advise. However, the point i created this topic is not asking people to help me remember the accident; i just want to understand why i cant remember anything about it. That's all.

Hmm That is an interesting question. I have read a few things about memory and the reasons we do or don't remember things. I suppose causes could be many but I will touch on a few maybe some of them are speculation on the part of a few people several years ago, so don't take my word for it. One reason is possibly that when we remember things sometimes we make an effort to remember something for a class or whatever we memorize. When something happens very fast we probably don't have as much time to put that in the memory bank so to speak. Other reasons might be that there is sometimes shock in the body with severely stressful events and the mind may be busy with survival activity and reflex activity to help save the persons life so memory things are not what the brain will be busy with at that time. The blood may be quickly shunted to only certain areas and not at the memory area who knows? Some people seem to learn more quicky than other people for genetic reasons. They have what is called a "photographic memory." They can look at something and remember everything about it right away. Another person may take quite a bit more time to remember something based on what he inherited through no fault of his own. Some people get busy and or distracted and somehow forget to do things, some people have a blood sugar difficulty. Other people may have suffered some mental tragedy of some type such as a lack of oxygen to the brain, stroke, multiple sclerosis, alzheimers, drug, alcohol or chemical blackouts, benign or malignant tumor, poor nourishment, body problems so nutrients are not absorbed etc. Most of these things are probably not likely the case with you, since you are able to get on the net and type to us and tell us things, you are not that bad so I would not worry about it. In your case it probably just simply happened very fast thats all. Most of your brain is probably there and useful so take care of your brain properly so you will have it as needed.
