Lost Jeep GC master key and remote?

i live in nj and i lost my master key with the remote. i heard you can get another one from the dealer, how much does that cost, and what exactly do they do? do they put all new locks in or a new sensor for teh remote?

Well when you get another one from the dealer they will program the car to recognize the new key's little chip. without doing this the car would shut down thinking someone was trying to steal it.

They will do basically the same thing for the new remote too.

they may need to re-key (change locks, aka expensive) if you do not have a backup key they can duplicate from.

my uncle had it done and i believe he paid like $80 for it. but that was a while ago.
