Lost Expense icon in Palm Desktop

My friend has a T3 with which he used to be able to sync his expenses. For some reason the Expense icon is missing from the Palm Desktop and "Expense" is not listed under the Custom menu for Hotsync. I have an E2 and we both are using Palm Desktop version 4.1.4. I am able to sync expenses, but he is not. I have seen posts about the reverse problem (Icon on desktop but not on PDA) but that is not the case. The Expense icon is on the T3 and the information can be entered and edited, but will not sync with the computer. Any ideas? We have uninstalled and reinstalled the Desktop software several times to no avail. I even manually deleted the PalmOne folder from the Program folder on his laptop prior to the last reinstall, but the expense sync option is missing.
 
Is the expense program present under the PalmOne program on/in the folders for the username on your friend's T3. It would appear as Expense similar to Addressbook or Datebook.

If it is - then the conduit is simply lost via the registry. If it is not - then other things are at work.

Either way - my suggestion is to hack the registry in the following manner:

Unistall the Palm Desktop.

Go into Registry Editor and remove all references to PalmOne, Palm, Handspring, and even USRobotics ( if they are relevant to a Palm device).

Turn the computer off - not just a reboot.

Reinstall the desktop.

Windows does not do a good job of cleaning the registry when programs are deleted and duplicate registry entries can get into conflict.....the only way to clean them is to hack the registry or buy your self a very good registry program that looks for rogue entries and clears them out for you.
 
Well, the answer was to uninstall all PalmOne software and remove it from the registry and then download Palm Desktop version 4.1.4 not 4.1.E which is the version that the Palm site directs you to in order to update your desktop. The "E" version does not have the expense, etc in it and by updating via that download my friend lost his expense icon. After reinstalling the 4.1.4 file the expense sync is now back. Tech support provided the link for the necessary file to be downloaded.
