I have a lot of things I'm afraid of...unfortunately many of the things are things I face everyday. I had been doing pretty good about learning how to calm myself down during the times when I felt like I'd have a full-blown panic attack, but lately I can't seem to calm myself down anymore.

I had the worst panic attack I've had yet this last weekend. I've only had maybe a dozen this bad ever. I had the usual chest pain, nausea, hyperventilating, and dizziness. But when I get a really back attack I also black out and shake uncontrollably. I usually forget about ten to twenty minutes or so. I usually come out of it so terrified that all I can do is cry.

Anyone else get panic attacks like this? It's really dragging me down.

Thanks,
Liz

I have really bad panic/anxiety attacks and it's usually when I'm out in public. I don't black out from them (though I wish I did and not remeraber nothing cause their so erabarrassing) I was on Effexor for it but that did not help. I've noticed when I'm really stressed that's when I usually have them.

Hi Liz,

I have suffered like you said and I would recommend a book called 'When Panic Attacks' by Dr Aine Tubridy I have had panic disorder for twenty years have tried everything but found with the help of this book and a very good psychologist / hypnotherapist although not cured I am certainly getting there....avoid psychiatrists they will just prescribe medications which may normally only help in the short term. But if your anxiety is that severe maybe they will be beneficial to get you over the worst I dont know...I have replied to another post about anxiety but cant find it...new to this site so if I can never access this thread again, I hope it works out for you and you are so not alone....panic is such a strong emotion and when it takes over your body its amazing (in a bad frightening way of course!) what it can do....the best of luck
