I live in Los Angeles, and recently closed my business in 2009. The City claims we still owe business taxes, but in 2009 we operated at a huge loss and had to layoff staff, close offices and shut down the business. I am unemployed, still looking for work and am unable to pay the taxes. What options do I have here? Can I be fined, levied, and or jailed for being unable to pay the tax?
