Hi
Today is my 2nd day without Lortab and I think I may have made a mistake with going cold turkey with it...I didnt think I had a real heavy habit, I was taking about 4-5 10 mg Lortabs a day for about a year and half for fibromyalgia...I also had shingles before that and was given Percocet and that is how taking the pills started..I sometimes also take a Percocet here and there with the Lortabs..
I have not slept in 2 nites, very restless, have bad stomach pains, diarerrha, anxiety, muscle aches and just feel like crap....
I do have enough pills to taper them, and now I am thinking I should have done that, and would the withdrawl symptoms be less? I hate these pills so much now and how they make me feel and I just want to be off them for good, so I feel I could taper them and then stop totally...I just dont want to be sick and tired like I am now....At 9PM tonite will be 2 days without a percocet or lortab..Should I keep up like this, or just take a 1/2 when I feel really bad for a few days until its over with?

Thanks!

your "crappy" feeling should taper off after day three. the insomnia lasts a little longer I'm sorry to say. Taking a half will drag it out I think. I know what youre going through and I wish you the best. If you NEED them for an illness why are you quiting? Being in pain will surely make the process more difficult.day three should be your hardest so..HANG IN THERE.

The reason I am quitting them, is that my doctor will no longer give them to me, saying that he thinks I dont need them...I am still in chronic pain from the fibro, but he thinks I have been on them long enough and now I should be fine..He doesnt understand fibro and thinks now diet and exercise will help me! I had no choice but to stop them, as I dont have great insurance or the money to doctor shop to find a doctor who will understand...Where I live, the pain management clinics do not normally give out pain medication for fibromyalgia, so either way, if I quit on my own or ran out of pills, i was done..

Nance77 Keep going your doing the right thing for your body and life.I am new to this post because of lortab.I stopped cold turkey on 9-06-09 after using them for 9 years.3 to 4 pills aday. The withdrawls are a big pain to deal with.I feel sick all day long and drag myself to bed.The nightmares have ended as well as the racing heart beat and night sweats. Now I just cannot eat or drink very well.Hoping I have not done my body and organs in, beyond repair.Good luck to you hope you have a long and healthy life without lortab.

I have been clean since Aug. 1st from Lortab, and I tapered off mine after years and years of taking a similar amount to you. Tapering was the way to go. I felt very little discomfort and it kept me from caving in. It does take a lot of discipline to do it if you don't have someone who can control the pills. I stuck with the taper because I have had to go cold turkey before when I ran out and it was torture.
Keep going and do whichever method works for you! Good luck!

3 days from now you feel so much better,, to tapper or not is a personal decision, i have done it both ways. i had to tapper. cold turkey always set me up for a major drug binge.
write everyday to get support--- you deserve it!

Welcome!

Boy, we have all been where you are. I agree with Derlinda.. To taper or to not is a personal decision.. For me, when I was using I did of course run out way before my prescription was ready to be refilled and went the cold turkey route. It was HORRIBLE... Then when I finally knew I needed to quit I did the taper and for me it was the right choice. It was still really hard but I made it....

Give us an update with how you are doing.

Hang in there.
