Loop Pedal Advice (electric violin)?

I've been playing the electric violin for a while now, and I was considering buying a loop pedal. The problem is that I have no idea what I'm doing. Are loop pedals the same as loop stations? Do loop pedals vary between instruments? (such as guitars) I run my violin through an acoustic guitar amp, will that make a difference? I've looked at a few brands, but all of the pedals I've found look upwards of $400, which is too much. I just need a simple one that can maybe do 5 loops or something. Please help/give suggestions?

Loop pedal is just the name for a loop station that is stuffed into a pedal. They don't have every option other loop stations would have, e.g. you can't turn off individual layers you've created but instead you stop everything. It doesn't really matter what instrument you run through it.

Maybe the boss rc-2 ( http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=819 ) is something that will suit your needs? You can probably find it for $200 or less. And look for second hand pedals too, sometimes you can find really great deals.
