You can get weather protection from a modern synthetic riding suit. Their primary purpose is crash protection, and some are more waterproof than others, but except for the mesh products, they will all keep you dry to a greater or lesser degree. Leathers will keep the rain out for a while, but will eventually get waterlogged, so you need a rain suit you can wear over them.
Riding in the rain can actually be enjoyable. A couple of products have gone a long way to improve the experience for me: Aerostich lobster claw overmitts, and Sidi On-Road Sympatex boots, which have remained waterproof for me for 18 years.
