I currently own a 1995 Mercedes C280. It has 78,000 miles. Unfortunately, it is costing me a boatload in gas, as well as maintenance costs. Last year, I had a $2,500 repair bill, plus another $600 for my 70,000 mile tune-up. Currently, I have a coolant leak, which needs to be repaired. I will also need brakes and tires($500+) within the next year. I am concerned these will cost me a huge amount.
I am interested in buying a used (2004+) Corolla, due to their gas mileage and cheaper repair costs. I drive roughly 26 miles a day (mostly freeway), and my Benz gets about 20 MPG. I'm just afraid if I keep my current car, that I will continue to experience the deterioration of it due to age, and I'd rather have something newer and more reliable. I'm concerned about the car payments though. Is it difficult to qualify for the great APR's? If you have a Corolla, how good is the fuel economy?
I pay my bills on time, always pay them off or make double the minimum payment. I have never gone through collections or anything like that.
Can anyone offer me any suggestions or tips please?
