Looking for solid, basic phone (Confused)

Hi Forum Members.

We are currently shopping for two new phones (wife & I).

We are both looking for just basic solid phones with the following characteristics:

Compact
Great reception
Long battery life
Adjustable to high listening volumns
One phone on T-Mobile (mine)
One phone on Cingular (wife's)
Attractive visual design (European modern preferred)
Unlimited budget but should be a good value

I love my Siemens S55, but it is showing its age and should be replaced. My wife has a Motorola Flip Phone that has terrible reception.

I am looking for a bar phone (not clamshell) that fits in my pocket and my wife is looking for a phone that will survive her handbag.

In reviewing the forums, it appears that the Sony Ericsson W810i looks like a potential choice. We have also looked at the new Samsung Ultra Editions, but are concerned about poor battery life comments.

Can you please suggest any other models that we should be looking at?

Thanks in advance for any help.

if you're looking at the sony ericsson w810i, why not consider the sony ericsson k810i? i've read a few posts on here that mentioned the w810i had a low call volume.
as for your wife, i've always been a fan of the motorola krzr for some reason.

sorry my suggestions don't have any explanations - i guess they lean more towards looks. although, i've heard the krzr has pretty great reception.

here are reviews of each phone, just in case :

Hi baulz.

I appreciate your helpful reply.

I think that we are done with Motorola phones based on our poor experience, but we will definitely consider the sony ericsson k810i. It looks quite intriguing.

Thanks.
