The name of the series OR the name of the hero is, I THINK, "The Falcon". And I remember seeing it about some 20 or 30 years ago.
The series takes place during the middle ages around the time of one of the early Crusades. Is that the middle ages? ;o)
Our hero returns home to Europe, after having learned all kinds of neat stuff from the Arabs while serving in the crusade. At first he fights wrong and injustice on his own, then he forms a small mercenary company, with some ethics, that is much sought after and goes about righting various wrongs for princes and comm folk alike.
And he is always running afoul of the Inquisition people.
His mercenary company is unique to the times because all the members are cross trained in the various martial skills of the day. Swordsman is bowman is cavalryman etc.
So, who was the author and where can i now find it?
