hey LAF ~ and OTHERS!!

You must be back from MAINE, unless all the lobster and butter got to you and did you in.

How is your back and groin pain??

Hope you had a great time and felt well, too.

I had my EMG and nerve conduction study on Wed...not altogether horrendous. Would have been tolerable except that it lasted 90 minutes --ugh. I could see the neurologist (who did his fellowship in something pertaining to EMG) was perplexed and that things weren't adding up.

Turns out I do not have neuropathy in my toes and feet -- that it is nerve damage from my lurabar nerve roots instead. He seemed to think this was preferable -- not sure why. Also contrary to what the Pain Management guy and my surgeon thought, L3 is just fine, thank you. Guess that's why I didn't get any results from the nerve block and ESI at L3.

Also, all my problems have been with the right leg and that is where my "new since surgery" pain is located. And guess what??? My nerve damage is much worse in my left leg and foot. And at the L5-S1 level. How crazy is that? :dizzy:

I am eager to talk with my surgeon on Thursday. He's going to give me the official report. I suppose he'll find a way to explain it all away. In any case, it should be interesting.

In the meantime, I don't quite know what to make of my back pain that should be caused by L3.

Any thoughts, anyone???

Hey MM.......Maine was great..Lots of walking, ( almost hiking..we stayed with a health nut) I was clirabing hills I never thought I could...Lots of lobster and wine too....Really relaxing time.weather was perfect.

The groin pain interestingly was better...I stayed in a room with a very firm bed....I may need to invest in a new bed/matress..

I left the kayaking to the other, knew even if I got in it I'd NEVER get out..

SInce I'm back this past week I've had a new nurabness in my toes...Could be from the long hours driving...I shared the driving w/ frienRAB..Found long stretches of h'way when youy need to keep steady foot on gas was bothersome...I was better in the stop and go traffic.

Sorry to hear the EMG was 90 minutes, but sounRAB like good news that it's not neuropothy...Anxious to hear what your surgeon says. But overall you sound good.

I'm dreading the shorter days soon with less time to walk after work...Have to resign up at the gym.

Nice to hear from you...That's for checking in...Can't believe it's over 7 months since my surgery...Saw relatives at my great aunt's (100th) b'day today.(can you imagine??)...and they seemed to think I looked well....It was refreshing to not sit in a chair the entire time...

Have a good week and keep us updated..

Look for Pepper's newest thread. It looks like she may be facing a (another?) revision surgery.

Glad you had a nice time. I think sometimes when we're home, we "take inventory" too much on how we're feeling, what different pain we're feeling, etc. When we just get out and live, we muddle through and don't think about it so much.

I am debating right now whether I am going to return to my work at the museum. I wish I could figure out if it might create new problems, as I think walking on the marble floors is what got my problems going to begin with. Will it make my current pain worse, or will the distraction be good for me? Can't figure it out, and I need to make at least an initial decision by Thursday.

Good to hear from you. don't be a stranger!!

xx M;)M
