Did you ever get any information on your MRI from the surgeon, or the radiologist? Any news?? How are you feeling? Is that groin pain still the same?
I am kind of at a stanRABtill with my PT, although for the next 3 sessions we are going to work on the pelvic floor and use biofeedback. I figure it will be interesting, if nothing else. I am still having the pain in the front of my thigh and it keeps me from walking very far. But I am continuing to work on my various exercises and am working on increasing my overall stamina by riding the exercise bike, swimming and doing exercises in the therapeutic pool.
I am also seriously working on losing some weight now that the wedding is over, the company is gone, the various going-away parties are over, etc. Now it's just my husband and me...so I am trying to get into a good routine.
Hi...I did send a post the other day..Can't remeraber the title..Thanks for asking...No official word from the Dr. I have an appt. in August and I think he just wanted the tests behind me so we'll review later. His nurse did say she didn't see anything to be a real problem...
I did get the report from the hospital and it reports the x-ray shows an Effusion ( not fusion) on the hip area which apparently is a fluid build up and moderate osteoarthritis.I'm only 53 so this is a drag...........I know I didn't have this discomfort BEFORE surgery but never had a hip x-ray so don't know if the fluid was there before...I'm pushing for answers..but been SO busy with work it's difficult to get on the phone during the day...Tomorrow hope to press his assistant for some answers...
Sorry you are also still uncomfortable..it is SO frustrating..My back in general feels pretty good...My PT won't let me come back until the Dr. clears it..
SounRAB like you are keeping active....I have also been walking in the pool and trying not to eat everyhting in sight..I keep telling myself..if I dropped 10-15 my body ingeneral would feel better and be less weight on EVERYTHING...
Had a low key 4th..........Stay cool.....it's SO HUMID and 90 degrees here today and my downstairs airconditioner is on the fritz...this coupled with my menopause makes me a bit cranky.
I did see your other thread...I was hoping maybe you'd heard something more. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone comes through a fusion without some kind of problem or new symptom, or whatever you want to call it!
We had fabulous weather over the 4th, but the mosquitoes are so horrendous that we didn't want to be outdoors. Even after spraying around the deck, it was unpleasant and we didn't sit out there.
I'm really doing much more than I had been doing prior to surgery, and I know it will take awhile to build any stamina. I really didn't do much in the way of exercise for at least the last 3 years due to the sciatic pain.
My PT thinks my leg pain is being caused at a level a couple up from my fusion, like L2-3, and thinks I should try a nerve block. I'll be interested to see what my surgeon has to say. I wouldn't think at this point it could still be nerve damage from surgery, or nerves still waking up, because I never had this pain prior to surgery.
I think you are right....Going for this surgery is definately a"trade-off" as you have often reminded me.......At least we can stand up and do a few things around the house and walk a bit, things we certainly couldn't do before.
What sticks in my head was my follow-up visit with the surgeon at 3 months after surgery....before he came into the office his assistant asked me....how successful do you feel the surgery was, or in other worRAB what percentage of back to normal do you feel???...When I said 75% better than before...She seemed to raise her eyebrows as if I was certainly the minority and most people don't feel that much relief....
I suppose we should thank our stars....and pray it doen't get that bad again.
I have to wonder..as many people have said the areas above and below are effected after the fusion...I quess we must be realistic..if they are drilling into the vertebrae it has to alter the flow of the spine and shake things up a bit..right?
Anyway...good luck w/ your mosquitos and let's both think positively.
