Looking for GSM smartphone with QWERTY

My price range is under $400

Well, QWERTY is a requirement. I won't settle for anything else. I don't really like the phones that have the buttons just sitting there (e61i style). I'm more into the sliding QWERTY and the flip (like Nokia E70).

I would also like it to be sleek. It doesn't have to be sexy, but I don't want to carry around a phone that screams "I look like a retard on heroin".

The E70 looks nice to me, but it's a little clunky as far as looks go.

What has really interested me is the HTC Hermes/Tytn/AT&T 8525. I could get one from AT&T for $300, and it looks like a very nice phone. I also think its gorgeous . I hear that Windows Mobile is inferior to Symbian though, and was wondering how much of a difference it makes.

Any other suggestions would also be welcome, and thanks for any help in advance!

I'd get the TyTN.
Theres infinite applications and mods for WM phones. WM6 is already out for the TyTN, plus its got a generously sized keyboard. It will crash more often than a Symbian phone, but it's got limitless personalization options. And it should be available thru AT&T for a much cheaper price.

Well, according to the AT&T site, I'm not eligible for a phone upgrade until 9/9/08. But I think if you go into a store they will upgrade you as long as you sign a new 2 year contract.. . If not, eBay or a forum B/S/T is looking probable.

EDIT: Does the Tytn switch to landscape view mode when you open the sliding keyboard?

I love the Dash and it is generally available on ebay for $200-250. It is much "sleeker" (thinner) than the slideout keyboard models. But then it is also WM6/Smartphone, not PPC. So you have to define your priorities... A killer app on these WM phones is Slingbox... The Dash is the only model of its kind that includes WiFi, which is a real plus in my book...
