...7200...? My girl and I are interested in purchasing bikes as we are both interested in beginning to ride together- great mutual hobby, stay fit, etc I've done some cursory research and I've done as much as make it down to my local authorized Trek dealer and talked turkey, if you will. very helpful, very informative- and I would only buy a bike from a reputable dealer for post purchase support and maintenance. What I'm curious 'bout is this- my budget is 375-475 per bike. I'm looking at a Trek 7200 with a 7100 for the missus, prices $489 and $439 respectively. Three questions...are there alternatives to the Trek line ?(e.g., this dealer also showed me a gary Fischer of similar price) ..I will be doing mainly road/path some trail as necessary, but just looking to cruise established bike paths, I don't believe a mountain type is what I need. Guess I'm looking for like models by different manufacturers, don't wanna limit myself
secondly, is this price seem about right? Treks website has MSRP slightly higher, but that's no surprise. Lastly, at specialty bike shops such as this....is the asking price what ist is, or ala a car lot, can ya dicker (I know, the only way to find out is to ask, but just curious- is it commonly expected to "work down" from the sticker? Thoughts?
thnx in advance- i just like to research my decisions and looking to see if 7300 is the right choice (i'm 5'9 205 lbs, work out daily and in excellent shape. ..dealer suggested 7300 over 7200 b/c of my size)
any input appreciated, esp with other models/lines (Fuji, Giant, cannondale, Diamondback, Mongoose)
