Looking for an inexpensive road bike for triathlons?

I'm a college student (poor) looking to buy a road bike for triathlons, any suggestions? I have always ridden my mountain bike but they are far too slow and heavy for road racing. I'm looking for a good bike that will last for the best possible price. I would be happy with any advice anyone has about different styles, makes, etc.
 
Unfortunately everyone wants a good bike for cheap, but then what need for expensive bikes. If you want cheap and decent, you're best off looking for a used one.
