Some years ago, I read a short horror story. A family had moved into a new house and were in the process of painting some of the rooms when they discovered a pair of eyes painted on the wall, hidden behind a wooden block. They were unable to remove the eyes, try as they might, and during the night, strange occurrences took place. It culminated with one of them being swallowed up by the floor. Although they passed it all off as a dream, no body was ever found. Does this ring any bells for anyone? MIght someone know what this story was called?
