Looking for a pretty good bmx bike? gt, intense, fmf?

Ok im looking for a really good bmx bike to race...ive never ridden before like really raced before but i want a pretty good bike and im really leaning towards the GT powerseries 3.0 pro 20'' im 5'8 inches tall and i weigh 149 pounds i know intense bikes are pretty good but they are also pretty expensive just wondering if the bike im wanting is a pretty good choice for me? Thanks
 
I think the GT is an all right choice, the only bad thing is that they dont have much street cred.

It would be wise to find a number of bikes from different brands and compare them.
