Looking for a good place to go camping in VA.?

We are looking to rent a cabin in the mountains in VA this Oct. There will be three families with young children. It could be one big house or a few small cabins close to each other. We would also like to be near attractions/amenities that would be appealing to young children. Does anyone have any recommendations?
 
Look around Williamsburg. That, or maybe Assateague National Park. There are some fun little communities around Assateague. A national park with beaches, forest, and wild horses. Can't go wrong there.
