I'm looking for a beginners mountain bike. Should I buy a good used one or should I get it new. Under $500 please. My brother rides a lot in Temecula, not too many extreme trails but it is definitely off roading. any suggestions?
the Specialized Hard Rock series is a good entry-level set of bikes for under 5 bills. IF you know what to look for, you might find a deal on craigslist or eBay.
If you can assemble and tune a bike I would recommend a Forge Sawback 5XX. I think your brother would be impressed with the quality of the bike at that price.
