I have posted a question before trying to trouble shoot my Jeeps non-starting issues, I had a shop look at it today and found the issue out but now I need some help.

Turns up my battery cables were awfully corroded to the point of them being dead. Apparently a 2002 Jeep Liberty's battery cables cannot be replaced alone but rather you have to replace the WHOLE battery harness because it is all one part.

I was quoted $450.00 parts/labor which is crazy, if I have to pay it then so be it. But with that being said, does anybody know where I could find the part I need for my Jeep and buy it myself?

I've done a few EBay and Yahoo searches but have come up empty handed, I think I may just be searching for the wrong thing seeing how I am pretty clueless about vehicles all together.

A second part of the question...Does anybody know if this is actually the truth? That you have to replace the WHOLE harness in a Jeep and you can't actually just change the cables themselves?

Thank You for all the help guys, I really appreciate it. If I have to suck it up and pay for it, so be it but I would just like some help/knowledge from some people clearly more knowledgeable than I am.

Thank You.

Hello. Two things: Yes Jeep only offers the whole harness (don''t know why, don't blame the dealer). An auto tech who is good at electrical can splice new terminal ends on it (been there done that). The tech is probably getting paid two labor hours and change to put the harness on. You might ask you service writer if the tech will splice new ends on it for the same labor but without the whole harness. Also the reason many corrode is because the top of the battery develops small cracks and the battery acid seeps out and ruins the terminal end. Consider also replacing the battery. Good Luck!
