look good on video bad in photos?

ive seen myself many times on video and i like the way i look. it is pretty much exactly how i see myself in the mirror.

BUT when i see myself in photos its a different story.......i look like a completely different person and really.......ugly.

i have a very angular face which may play a role but which is more accurate, video or photo?
 
Some people do look different in photos than real life. What it comes down to is that a photo has taken something that is three dimensional and squished it into a two dimensional plane. And depending on the lighting and other factors, some key facial features that make you look like you are lost. Video is different because although you're still flattening 3D into 2D, your face is still in motion and your eye perceives the images as three dimensional because the angles your face is being viewed from is constantly changing. There is even a set of rules models generally follow about how to pose for a picture to avoid getting these types of facial distortions.
