I have been through tons of phones over the years. Had some really good ones, but lately feels like the phones are getting pretty lousy. Battery life and call quality seem to be steadily decreasing.

What I'm looking for:

-quad-band GSM
-EDGE or better (not necessary, but would be nice)
-decent battery life
-great reception
-great call quality

I don't really care about how the phone looks, gimmicky features, or anything that would prevent it FROM BEING A PHONE. Did some research and am currently considering the following devices:

Motorola V620
Siemens S66
Nokia 6300 ("b" 850MHz version)
Nokia E50
i-Mate SP5 (had it once, sorta regret getting rid of it)

So far the two Nokias are in the lead since I hear Nokias have great RF performance. Supposedly the Symbian interface is really good too.

I'm struggling to find an SP5 for sale; that's ideally my first choice.

Thanks in advance, all.

for what you want, get a moto. i have had samsungs, nokias, and motorolas. there is a few dead spots around where i live - the signal on the samsungs would be permanently dead, the nokia's would struggle to go to 1 bar, then fail at every single attempt to send a text, and the motorolas are the only ones where i have ever been able to successfully send a text with. they are also the best for call quality. nokias are ok for call quality, but samsungs tend to leave a lot to be desired.
