1500+miles in a day. Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't that like 22hrs in the saddle if you average 70 mph. hmmm sounds like alot unless you are trailering a gas truck lol

Wow a ton of great ideas here fueled from experience. My longest day is 325 miles and I felt great but wife was kind of sore on the tailbone. Now I've got some ways to help improve the ride for her. I also want to try out the Ironbutt 1000 now and then maybe some of the longer rides when I get more time off from work. Handlebars and backrest are next for me. My Sundowner Deep Bucket seat is pretty comfortable. Some of those wicking riding shorts and tights are next on the agenda as well.

My longest ride was 500 miles in one day on a 2005 Heritage Softail Classic which I really loved. I have since traded it in on a 2010 FLHX and have went about 300 miles in one day.

I will get to test the C & C seat I bought this fall when I go on a 8 - 10 day trip.

Like Scooty, a wool/sheepskin cover,. Its warm in the winter and cool to touch at 100+ TX heat. Wife and I did 13 1/2 hours in Colorado last August and it made all the difference to our factory EG seat. Looks grandpaish, but goes on and off in minutes and a fraction of the cost of big name seats. A good place to start. Check craigs list also...

Rode 575 miles one day. As well as the other responses, wear a good pair of bike shorts (Trek, Specialized, OP) with the padding for your butt, not just the compression shorts, change positions frequently, stop every so often to get off the bike... We were stopping about every hour and a half. I have the bead rider seat cushions and they helped to keep your butt off of the seat so that air can circulate in between the seat and your butt. They also distribute your butt weight over the beads so that you don't get sore on the spots that your butt is contacting the seat. It was in the 90's the whole way to Sturgis and back, over 2100 miles, and we didn't get any monkey butt or sweaty ass with the bead riders.

All good tips: a seat and bars that fit, biker shorts, Monkey Butt Powder, back rest, keeping in relatively good shape.I get tired, sore, and cranky doing 800 miles in one shot in an Escalde let alone 1026 miles on my Ultra Limited. My driving force for the long rides,1-1k+,2-800 milers and several 5-700 mile days in 3 1/2 weeks 10k miles,24 states is the relatively short riding season here in Wyoming.Mid May to mid Sept.as a rule. And I'm not getting any younger,57yrs.It's also good to plan a nice easy day following a marathon.I'm one of those people who leave the rock in their boot all day long because it feels so good when you take them off at night.Attitude and desire make up for a lot of discomfort.
