Long distance riding secrets...

I've done several days of high 900s and one legitimate 1,000, plenty of 600s and 700s. I don't stop any more often than I need fuel, typically looking to fill somewhere between 160-180 miles.

I've done that on my Road King with a Corbin seat that I find to be REALLY comfortable on distances as well as on my former Heritage Springer with the stock seat.

The two things I find to be most important as far as keeping your but and hams from falling asleep is good back support (whether a backrest or a pack) and the ability to move your feet around. Highway pegs are a great invention!!!

Just did the Saddlesore 1000 w stock seat. Bought the Wall-Mart waffle gel seat for $20 and used it for last 400 miles. It worked great and probable should have put it on sooner. I tried to find gel pad but they were too thick or too thin.

I also used the LRS X-Stream windshield which helped stabilize the bike in the NV wind and in a couple short rain storms my upper body didn't even get wet.

Have never seen a gel seat in Walmart before. Details? Is it for a bike or did you cut a car seat cover. Looking for a way to make my own seatcover that will help from sore a$$.

The Metric riders told me that if you keep a water bottle full of prune juice and crap your pants every 100 miles or so, you'll stay hydrated and keep your butt lubricated and well padded (kinda like a gel seat). The longer you ride the cushier it gets ! I new they had something more than just a trick up their sleeves !

Your physical conditon and how use you are to riding has a lot to do with how far you can ride. The comfort of the particular seat and taking a short break at each fuel stop. I've found doing stretch exercises before riding helps me prevent leg cramps. The longest one day ride I've ever done was 926 miles in 18 hours.

My new Corbin Classic solo seat doesn't feel like it's going to be a long distance seat for sure.
