1) mustang seat
2) covered with sheep skin
(just the right firmness & softness plus the sheep skin pulls away moisture.
3) move around every few mins.

works for me 800 plus no problem, but as they say each butts different.

I concur with the wicking compression shorts, sheep skin (or beads), and plenty of powder. I have used the Monkey Butt stuff but find plain old corn starch works just as well.

Nobody has talked about pants. I now wear armoured motorcycle pants. They have special panels in the groin area that strech and allow more free air movement. If you insist on jeans , Diamond Gusset's have a little more room in that all important area.

What he said.. I have a friend who rides with one on all of our long rides.. (900 miles 2 days last time.) and swears by them.. I have a Mustang with the backrest and am good, Need to find better handlebars though..

Here's what I have found that works for me: comfortable seat with a rider's backrest, hiway pegs that allow different feet positions, wearing bicycle shorts under my jeans to keep the sweat away from the skin and stopping every 150 miles or so for gas, food/drinks and stretching the legs. Hope this helps,Bennie.

hydrate yourself days before you leave and throughout your ride.Wear a helmet.take rain gear with you. get a good nights rest.get gas before you need it.best tip I got is get a beaded seat cover ,has good air flow and gives the ass a massage feelin' for only about 15 bucks

(1) A nice, broken-in Corbin classic solo seat with driver backrest (driver backrest is hands-down the best thing I ever spent money on for the RK).

(2) Multiple foot positions
A. I removed the crash bar and installed the Kuryakn (sp?) Mark IV cruise pegs (they install on the same holes as the crash bar does). I can stretch my legs a little with my feet on the pegs. I can totally stretch out with the heels of my boots on the pegs.

B. I removed the heel shifter. Now I can put my toes on the back edge of the floorboards.

C. I have passenger PEGS, not floorboards. I fold them down and put my instep (front of ankle)on the pegs with my feet pointing straight down behind the pegs.

With the stock foot position, that gives me 5 different foot/leg positions. Move around often! Also, probably not the safest thing, but with 16" apes, Ican stand up on the passenger pegs and really get the blood and air flowing!

(3) Some might not like this, but...Spray some baby powder all inside your jeans. Spread it around well. Now put your jeans on sans underwear and ride all day. NICE!!!

(4) Make sure your bars are adjusted for you.The stock position is not where the bars have to be.Sometimes just a little rotation of the bars in the clamps will give you a whole new level of comfort. Rotate the levers/controls to fit your riding style as well.

(5)It'll surprise you how awell-placed water bottle that's within reach while in the saddle will keep you in the saddle a little longer.

That's all I got. Good luck on the Iron Butt!!

I have done a couple of saddlesore 1000 rides on my Ultra and tend toward 500 to 700 mile days on normal rides.

I have the stock HD comfort stitch seat with a rider backrest, a good set of highway pegs and that's it. And it works fine for me.

What others have said about seams on your undies is true. They will feel like mountain ranges after a few hundred miles.

I ride from fuel stop to fuel stop and will move off to the side for a bit o rest and stretchin'.

Personally, I can't see the need for a high priced aftermarket seat, but that is my opinion.

Good luck.
