micro fiber long johns cured my butt burn. no seams to sit on. cut 'em off to make shorts out of them in the summer. get 'em at places where they sell ski wear.... i always look for the lightest weight stuff.

1. Moisture wicking underwear (Socks and shirts too in the heat)
2. Mustang Seat (foam doesn't collapse over time like stock and shape is better)
3. Stop every now and then for a stretch
4. Keep hydrated
5. Highway pegs to help change your position
6. Backrest
7. Cruise Control
8. Sometimes I lean forwardover the tank and lay my feet or shinson the passenger foot boards
9. Run correct tire pressure
10. Change the stock floor boards, the new ones have more spring in them.
11. Wear long sleeves
12. Wear ear plugs

A good seat that fits you properly is the key to it all.

Whether it's a Corvin or Mustang or whatever depends on the individual. Very individual thing that you'll just have to try yourself to find what fits you.

I stretch for 5 or 10 minutes at each fill-up and then keep pushin' on... 700 or 800 mile days are not hard to do if the bike and seat fit you properly.

Just dont skimp on a aftermarket seat. There are a few real good ones to pick from if your planning on any serious over the road work.....and you will need it.....the stock HD seats are fine....some of them are even good for a few high mile days.....but like I said the #1 mod for interstate travel is a quality seat. Ask your riding buddies....ask here....search....shop around.....then pick. Between that and a good adjustable back rest.....you can double your fatigue free miles/hours. Other than a quality seat....it all personal.

A lot of great ideas but as I skimed through I did not see any mention of the beaded seat cover. Go to beadrider.com. Bought a set for my wife and I and could not believe the difference. We both used the wicking under armor type shorts under our jeans and the beaded seat covers. Keeps you slightly off of the seat and allows airflow so you do not get the sticky butt that leads to major problems on the long haul. Way to go in my book!!!

The only thing I would add to the comments above, and it may be just me but............................

I dont ride for about 4 months of the year, and when I start in the spring I find even 150 mile days a little uncomfortable. As I ride more I seem to become hardened (for the want of a better term) to the distance and feel less and less discomfort. By the time I head out for the Europe break I am comfortable with 500 - 600 miles.

I changed to a Mustang seat, big difference from the stock HD seat. I also use the Pro Pad sheepskin cover that are gel filled. I usually ride fill up to fill up without too much problem When I stop, I give myself about 10 minutes for a pitstop, rehydrate, and grab a snack if necessary. I have gone as far as 700 miles in a day once. My @ss could have went a little further, but I was starting to get 'punchy' after that. 500 miles a day is usually my average.

Might have to invest in a couple pairs of those bicycle shorts. I don't think I could handle commando. Might chaff a few areas I would like to use after I stop for the evening!
